Frequently Asked Questions
-
I approach every manuscript as a writer, editor, scholar, and teacher. Rather than relying on formulas or standardized methods, I work closely with each project to understand its ambitions and help it develop its own literary form. My goal is not simply to improve a manuscript, but to help writers produce work that is intellectually rigorous, artistically compelling, and unmistakably their own.

Book coaching is an ongoing collaborative process that supports both the writer and the manuscript. It is ideal for projects in their early or middle stages and includes regular meetings, editorial feedback, accountability, and guidance throughout the writing process.
Developmental editing is designed for completed manuscripts. It provides an in-depth editorial evaluation of the work’s structure, voice, pacing, organization, and overall coherence, along with a detailed revision strategy.
-
A Manuscript Assessment is a comprehensive editorial evaluation of a completed manuscript. You’ll receive a detailed editorial letter outlining your manuscript’s strengths, areas for development, and recommendations for revision. Unlike developmental editing, it does not include in-text comments throughout the manuscript.
-
The Manuscript Diagnostic is designed for writers who want early feedback before completing a full draft. I read the first 30 pages and your project synopsis, then provide an editorial letter and consultation to help you strengthen the work before continuing.
